Why is reading out loud so hard??

As most of you probably don’t know, I have never read my writing (stories, poetry, anything…) out loud on video, or for a “reading,” or in front of people in general. I typically avoid those types of situations at all costs because I have an irrational fear of large groups. However, my flash story “Monsters in Walls” was accepted by the very cool Justin Meckes, in a new flash fiction series called The Open Mic.

My very first reading ever will premiere sometime in July. In the meantime checkout my video of bloopers for your entertainment.

(Note: I am an introvert, and taking videos of myself is beyond bizarre. This video is a way for me to break-the-ice before the actual “reading.”)

And, if you’re a writer, submissions for The Open Mic are still open!

  1. Hello all Veronica McDonald fans! Just to let you know, her story will be up at The Open Mic on July 5th at 7PM EST. I’ve read it. I’ve seen it. It’s scary! Thanks for the super cool shout out, Veronica!

  2. You’ve got this – it’s clear from the bloopers. If all else fails, let your son read it. He apparently has no fear of being videoed.

    1. Lol! Yes, I think that is definitely the plan next time I do something like this. If nothing else, it will be a lot cuter 🙂
